CLENPIQ is the first ready-to-drink low volume bowel cleansing agent.
CLENPIQ can be used alone or in conjunction with over the counter laxatives like bisacodyl or magnesium citrate. If an over the counter laxative is also recommended by your physician, it is usually used about 1 hour before the bowel cleansing agent. There are 2 main ways to take your bowel cleansing agent: the day before regimen or the split dose regimen.

Can I drink first bottle 5pm day before
And second bottle 9 or 10 pm day before my colonoscopy is at 7 am
You can. This will be the day-before-colonoscopy regimen as opposed to the split-dose regimen. Also, 6 hours between the first dose and the 2nd dose is preferred. As always, follow your doctor’s advice.
Can you mix CLENPIQ with a clear liquid? the taste is horrible when drank alone. thanks
CLENPIQ is a ready-to-drink bowel cleansing agent. No need to mix with additional liquid.
To help with the taste, drink it after sucking on menthol candy like Hall’s cough drops to numb your tongue. Use a straw and just put the straw at the back of your throat. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/colonoscopy-tips/
How long does it take clenpiq to work after the first dose? It has been 1 hour 45 minutes since taking and nothing is happening.
It depends on so many factors and varies from person to person. It eventually works. Are you doing the split dose regimen (preferred) or the day-before regimen? Read the post- How to tell if your bowel is clean prior to colonoscopy. Read also -predictors of inadequate bowel preparation. Good luck!
Is it ok to refrigerate clinpeq before drinking?
You may. Remember, CLENPIQ is ready-to drink agent. No need to mix with water or Gatorade.
The instructions that came with Clenpiq say not to refrigerate. Will it negatively effect the medication if I refrigerate it? The wording did not make it sound like it was optional so now I’m nervous I’ve messed up by refrigerating it the day before. This is my first time using Clenpiq. I have always refrigerated other bowel preps before using, not that it ever seems to make a difference in taste.
People have refrigerated Clenpiq without any problem despite the label. Definitely do not freeze. It is a ready to drink solution and the manufacturer do not want any dilution by way of ice or others. Bowel cleansing agents are easier to tolerate cold in general. Clenpiq is relatively small and can easily be swallowed whole and so having it cold may be a mute point. Follow your doctor’s specific instruction always.
Am I going to be in the bathroom all night?
It depends on many factors – Your body, the type of bowel cleansing agent you’re using, how you use the bowel cleansing agent (day before vs. split-dose vs. same day) and the time you take the bowel prep.
Thanks. I sure wish they would’ve told me to start earlier. I’m up way past my bedtime. Lol. Appointment is at 7 am.
After drinking my first bottle, can I still drink my liquid diet? (ie broth, jello, pop cycles etc.) Or can I only have water?
Yes.
I took the first full bottle of clenpiq and it’s working. I’m now taking my 2nd bottle and I only have 1/4 of it left to drink. It has such an awful taste that i feel like if I swallow anymore, I’m going to vomit. Is it okay to stop now? My stomach is too upset.
You should try to finish your bowel cleansing agent. You may stop for a few minutes if you feel nauseous and then resume. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/adverse-events-side-effects-of-bowel-preparation-agents-and-how-to-handle-them/ and https://bowelprepguide.com/how-to-hack-your-colonoscopy/
What happen if you vomit after drinking it Clenpiq?
Call your doctor immediately.
My doctor told me to take both bottles in the morning before my procedure. Does this sound right?
Only if you are scheduled for afternoon colonoscopy. There are 3 ways to take your bowel cleansing agents: day-before, split-dose, and same-day prep. It looks like you are given the same day bowel prep. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/same-day-bowel-prep-for-colonoscopy/
I took the first bottle at 5pm on December 12 followed by 5 cups of clear liquids. Have not had to go to the bathroom for diarrhea nor a solid bowel (now 4:40am on day of Colonoscopy).
Just took second bottle at 4am and 2 cups of water so far by 4:30am.
What happens if i don’t experience a cleansing diarrhea by my colonoscopy at 10am?
FYI Tuesday I started per my doctor a liquid diet only and had 2 bowel movements on Tuesday, a bowel movement on Wednesday and a watery diarrhea prior to the Clenpiq. Also only on a 1200 calorie a day diet for past month
If you have had your colonoscopy, hope you had an adequate/good prep. If you have not, drink plenty of fluids. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/how-to-tell-if-your-bowel-is-clean-prior-to-colonoscopy/
Contact your physician if necessary.
I took the first bottle at 6:30 followed by 5 glasses of water and nothing its 9:15… Should I take muralax? worried its not going to work!!!
Its been 3 hrs and nothing. Should I take Muralax or something else??? This cost me 110.00 not covered by insurance.
Do you have history of chronic constipation? Are you taking constipating medications like narcotics? Why did you choose CLENPIQ? It takes different times for different people to have bowel movements after taking bowel cleansing agents. You may need to give it some time. Some people may require dulcolax or magnesium citrate in addition to the CLENPIQ. I hope you’re doing the split-dose regimen. Good luck!
Hello. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for 10.30am. Should dose #2 be taken the night before (10pm – 12pm) or on the morning of the procedure (5am?)?
Ideally, the 2nd dose should be taken 4-5 hours before your colonoscopy. A study showed that the superiority of the split-dose regimen is lost if the second dose is consumed more than 5 hours before the scheduled colonoscopy. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/5-hour-rule-split-dose-bowel-preparation/
Good luck!
Hello I have a colonoscopy schedule for 2/7/19 at 8am . Should I take my first dose this morning and second before bed ? Don’t wanna mess up . Also suffer from in’s already . Will I be tied to the toilet ? I have 2 exam today 2/6/19 🙁 … any helpful info please
Multiple studies showed that the split-dose regimen in which you take the 1st dose the evening before colonoscopy and the 2nd dose 4-5 hours before colonoscopy is better than taking everything the night before. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/how-to-hack-your-colonoscopy/
Good luck!
Colonoscopy tomorrow, liquid diet today. Took 1st dose Clenpiq @2pm with the 5 cups clear liquids. it’s now 8pm & no results. Due to take 2nd dose now. Is it going to work appropriately?
Is there any nutritional info available for CLENPIQ? Specifically carb count, I am a Type 1 Diabetic.
NO. Each bottle of CLENPIQ contains 10 mg sodium picosulfate, USP; 3.5 g magnesium oxide, USP; and 12 g anhydrous citric acid, USP.
The product also contains the following inactive ingredients:
acesulfame potassium, cranberry flavor, disodium edetate, malic acid, sodium benzoate, sodium hydroxide, sodium metabisulfite,
sucralose, and water. The cranberry flavor contains glyceryl triacetate (triacetin), maltodextrin and sodium octenyl succinate starch.
This is a repeat colonoscopy because on inadequate cleansing first time . It was a different liquid prep too. I last night did a Mag Citrate w/ bm. Tonight took Clenpiq @6 it’s 10:30 nothing!!! I e done it strictly by the written rules. Because I’ve has a full gastric bypass I cannot take most laxative pills. I’m extremely nauseated, if it’s like last time I won’t have a bm until my 2nd dose @4am. HELP ME!!!
What bowel prep did you use the first time? Not sure whether small volume bowel cleansing agent like CLENPIQ is ideal in patients with prior inadequate bowel prep but your doctor knows best. It is good that you have an adjunct like magnesium citrate for added effect. Follow the instruction of your doctor. Good luck!
I took my clenpiq the day before my procedure. The morning of my procedure between 8-9:30 am im still going to the bathroom. Its yellowish but my procedure is at 11:30am this morning is this normal?
This is normal. Read https://bowelprepguide.com/how-to-tell-if-your-bowel-is-clean-prior-to-colonoscopy/
Good luck!
It’s 1 hour and 15minutes and nothing is happening. I am on my third glassof water followed instructions to the letter
I drank the required 5 8oz cups of water in succession after the first dosage. I’ve had a couple of movements since then. Will drinking the 5 cups in succession adversely affect the procedure?
Don’t think so. As always, follow your doctor’s instruction. Good luck!
