At the recently concluded Digestive Diseases Week (DDW) 2015, Takach O et al presented a study (Su1535) in which 160 subjects were assigned to either paper-based instructions or web-based instructions. Two endoscopists rated the quality of the preparation using the validated Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) with a score of ≥ 7 being considered excellent and < 5 being considered inadequate.
The result: More subjects in the web-based group (50/80) achieved an excellent score compared to the paper-based group (30/80) with a p-value of 0.04.
The authors concluded that website-based instructions should be considered when making a decision in strategies to improve colon cleanliness for outpatient colonoscopies.
